For reasons that only make sense to me, Husband and I are embarking on an unexpected journey. We are searching for Stars Hollow.
What, you may ask, is Stars Hollow? It is a fictional town that was the setting for one of my favorite TV shows of all time, “The Gilmore Girls.” In the 2000s, the series ran on the CW (or the WB… I never could tell them apart), and it was about a woman who was about my age raising a single daughter alone who she had had when she was 16. She grew up in a wealthy family, but she left home to raise her daughter in an environment she thought they could both be nurtured.
That place was Stars Hollow, Connecticut.
The series starts when her daughter is 16, and there are changes coming to their lives.
There are tons of blogs[1] you can read about this journey and how it relates to the show. This one is quite good and has a level of dedication to detail I lack.
It is also very like the town of Stars Hollow in that it is detailed, charming and a little quirky.
Why am I driving over 800 miles in two days to a place where it is projected to be cold and rainy on a holiday weekend? Because I love stories. Some people may think I love reading, but what I really love is stories. So, while BigOwn and LittleOne are away at summer camp, I have given myself permission to Search for Stars Hollow.
I’ll let you know what I find out.
