I thought I would set some guidelines[1] for how my Book Reports will be structured. I have 5 questions I will answer about a book, or series of books, I report on and then add any other thoughts I want to share about the books[2].

What kind of book is it?

Where did I discover it/Why did I read it?

What did I like about it?

What didn’t I like about it?

Would I read something else by this author?

And… Other Thoughts…

In general, I probably won’t write a Book Report as soon as I have finished a book[3]. I like to let my mind have some time to process the story and see how it effects my thinking not just immediately but as I interact with the world.

I won’t be tracking words for grading.[4]

Spoiler Alert – I will be including spoilers. In order to say what I like and what I don’t like, I will need to include details. These are my thoughts about it, so if you have been waiting to read one of the books I decide to make a report of, you may want to wait to read my missive. I will try to keep the Spoilers in the “Other Thoughts…” section in case you are interested in checking the book out[5].

I hope my Reports get better over time. I hope you may pick up a book you might otherwise have skipped. Feel free to leave the name of a book and/or author in the comments that you think I would enjoy either here or on an individual Book Report. Just be sure to tell me why you think the Book Report means I would like your recommendation.

[1] Not rules. Definitely not requirements

[2] I was going to explain these, but realized they are pretty self explanatory.

[3] I read the book for my first Book Report last summer.

[5] I won’t be putting links into the reports to buy the books, but I do suggest that Libby is an incredible App for your eReader (or phone in my case) where you can check out eBooks from any library where you have a library card.
